James,

The proof of your BD/RD will be found in the shutter speeds. The BD
IIIf continued the IIIc shutter speeds of 1-30, 40, 60, 100 etc. The RD
will have speeds of 1-25, 50, 75, 100 etc.

Other possibilities exist as well; e.g., your reference list is
incorrect or a lost dial was replaced with an earlier one marked for BD
speeds. The latter instance can be detected by the numbers on the slow
speed dial which will have 1/30 on the BD and 1/25 on the RD model.

Sometimes a factory will clear old inventory by making a one-time run
out of sequence just to utilize perfectly good parts that otherwise
would lie around forever.

I hope this helps. It's not unheard of for the factory to turn out an
anomaly once in a great while. Even the workers at Leitz are human.

I'd be interested in what you find.

Best Regards,
Walker Smith (Doubs43)
