Hi Simon,
The portrait is very nice although I'd have revolved the lens to shoot a
vertical rather than the horizontal. Although it's still loose enough
composition to barely get away with it as is.

It might seem strange to be shooting portraits with a 400mm lens, however my
son Scott does any number of his portrait type photographs with a Canon 400
2.8. He does so because it gives him separation from his subject and
separates the subject from their surroundings, back ground.

It's a shooting style that requires some patients so you feel comfortable
with the long lens. But it does provide a different look to the subject than
the usual 90 or 135mm.
