Most of the proclaimed surrealist photographers of my acquaintance also enjoy taking pictures and don't undertake their craft as a mere intellectual endeavor, just like you! I have right behind me a photograph I took of Salvador Dali in 1963 when I was a kid. He was examining the installation of a show at the Huntington Hartford Museum in New York and was wearing his eye glasses. As soon as Dali saw me, he had me thrown out of the museum. I love that picture, but wiser people than I have told me it is surrealist kitsch. I hope your friend enjoys her Dali as much as I enjoy mine. I stand by what I wrote. Leica cameras are essential to the practice of surrealist photography. Why are you getting all het up about this, Sonny, and why are you taking it so personally? Buzz ----- Sorry, I still don't get the connection. As I said before, I am a shallow bumpkin. I'm not taking it personally. I'm not even het up, whatever that is. ----- I don't do surrealist photography with my Leica, whatever that is. I just take pictures, and enjoy doing it. ---- By the way, a person I know has a Dali original. She has it hanging near the sink so she can enjoy it while she's washing dishes. --- Sonny
