This classic car event begins in San Francisco on a Sunday in late April when pre-1914 automobiles ascend from the foot of California Street to the Fairmont Hotel. The cars that will participate in the touring event gather in front of the Fairmont Hotel. Other classic cars, selected by the Palo Alto Councours d'Elegance, are displayed in and around the Flood Mansion Park, across the street from the Fairmont Hotel. In the touring event which begins on the following Monday, the participants travel through scenic northern California, stay in fine inns, and enjoy good food, wine, and company. The California Mille is organized by Martin Swig, a lifelong automobile enthusiast.
