Subject: [Leica] That M3 Still Is Devilishly Impressive!
From: msmall at infionline.net (Marc James Small)

I have a friend who is a digital part-time professional (he is a deputy
sheriff and, thus, in these hustings, a Democrat and we got to be friends
from our photographing political events from the opposite ideological
sides). He mainly shoots weddings and has quite a booming business on
weekends. (He works the Courthouse, 8:30 to 4:30, Monday through Friday.)

He has been asking for a couple of years to borrow one of my Leicas so,
finally, I lent him my late M3 DS, a 1.4/35 Pre-Asph Summilux, a 2/5cm NF
Summicron with the eyes, a 4/9cm collapsible Elmar, and a 4/135 Elmar.

Now I cannot get the gear back. I have earned one convert from the digital
crowd! He has shot several weddings and has been most impressed with the
improvement in the quality of his pictures.

<sigh> I want my stuff back! I like that collapsible 9cm Elmar for walks
in the woods. (I COULD mention to the Sheriff but, then, why stir up
problems in Dodge City? I might get Miss Kitty mad at me .... )
