Whew! It's a huge load off my shoulders knowing I'm not the most pompous
individual on this forum.

As to the items Doug innumerated, here's the reality of it:

1. I do not love, or even like Canon EOS equipment. I like classic, manual
gear with nice heavy metal bodies. I like Image Stabilizer lenses for wildlife
photography and that's the sole reason I sold my F5 and F100 and switched to
EOS gear: a 1D, a D60 and a Rebel Ti for the off-chance I might want to
shoot a roll of film with it. I only use the Canon's for wildlife, period.

2. For 35mm reflex photography I have a full set of Nikkor lenses and 3 very
nice Photomic FTn's.

3. I did not *break* 10 R bodies, they all malfunctioned to one extent. I
owned 2 SL
s and never had a moment's trouble with either of them. I don't have the
need for two sets of manual-focus SLRs, and since my photography rarely has me
shooting at maximum apertures there was not enough disparity between the
results.

4. I think the LHSA is great, I'm glad it exists. I was a member a number of
years back, went to a couple of meets. I found that the members were a
generation older than I and felt out of place. I'm catching up with them though,
will probably rejoin in another 5 years or so.

5. I do not have any interest in taking my time scanning and uploading my
photography to the internet, but I fully admit that I am not a great photographer
and have a lot to learn in that respect. However I know what I know one heck
of a lot about photographic equipment, just as I know a heck of a lot about
cars though I've never driven the Indy 500, and I know a heck of a lot about
astronomy though I've never flown in space, and a heck of a lot about
Shakespeare though I've never been on stage. If someone bases their assessment of my
credibility on their opinion of my photography that is an unfortunate fallacy in
their reasoning which I am prepared to live with.

6. I don't know much about chipmunks, but if I do, now I know whom to ask.
