It is, of course, possible, nay likely,  that the "impossible" 
technical challenge has not been solved but by having a 1.53 smaller 
sensor the steeply angled edge rays of rangefinder lenses are not being 
used and by accepting lower quality standards than would be expected 
from a M Leica a thoroughly marketable product could be produced.
Lots of people, myself included, will probably buy this to use their 
Leica lenses unless the quality is truly poor. I expect that a full 
frame sensor with resolution to match top quality transparency film 
when used with rangefinder type lenses is still as far away technically 
as ever (if it is being researched at all). A custom designed microlens 
filter would, of course only match a single lens.
