All the DSLRs have shutters, and they are cocked electronically using battery power - the Epson apparently depends upon thumb power, just like our beloved Leica Ms, and the Bessa Rs, upon which the camera is based. As to the rewind knob, it has apparently been turned into a control knob. I agree with you completely when features appear to be useless appendages - but when a manufacturer finds a way to convert the old to the new, more power to them. ;-) - -----Original Message----- From: owner-leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us [mailto:owner-leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us] On Behalf Of Frank Filippone Sent: Thursday, March 11, 2004 9:30 AM To: leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us Subject: RE: Re: [Leica] epson digital RF report pages What shutter? Why do you need a shutter? The thing is digital......everything is electronically timed. The only purpose for a thing that looks like a shutter is a sensor cover for when you change lenses.. prevents dust from getting on the sensor, Hardly used for every picture. The film rewind gadget amazes me even more...... There have been several discussions in the past about Leica being neck jewelry for the rich. The Cosina DIgital brings that discussion to the forefront again. Gadgets attached so that your digital camera LOOKS LIKE a film camera.
