David, you're quite right of course. I was curious to see if he camera
would be capable of differentiating between the lenses, or whether with
the 300D's 6 mpixels the camera would level everything out.

I also have a Canon f1.8 prime and at f2 the old Summicron has the edge
over it. At f5.6 they are virtually indistinguishable. It would be an
interesting exercise to shoot with a more modern Summicron.

This says something about lenses. But I'm not sure how much it says
about 
digital vs film...
