"that brings me to another idea; as well as being full frame, it would be incredibly and perversely impressive if the camera should take the visoflex mirror box. i cannot explain it. but i would DEFINITELY buy it." And why does that not surprise me? :-) As to the Noctilux, what ever the multiplication factor, it will in fact give you that revolting 1 inch depth of field at 5 feet, and the nauseluxian fingerprint. It will be whatever focal length the multiplication factor makes it with the same depth of field and other characteristics it normally has. That's both the draw back, and in some areas, the blessing, of the multiplication factor. A 35 Summilux ASPH with a 1.5 x factor would be a 52.5 mm lens with the depth of field and fingerprint of the 35....While the finger print and characteristics are great, and there are certainly some occassions when the depth of field would be good, it also means that you would have more depth of field wide open at the 52.5 focal length than you might want with a 50.
