Subject: [Leica] Playing with a Russian lens on a German body

Well I broke down and bought a real Contax, a IIa, just couldn't pass it up
it was in beautiful condition with a perfect 50mm f2 Sonnar. However I also
picked up an Orion-15 28mm f6 russian contax
lens. This is probably the rarest of the Kiev Contax lenses and it wasn't
cheap by Kiev standards, just around $300, but the collector in me took
over. It is an interesting lens in that it is not coupled to
the range finder, but with a maximum aperture of f6 the rangefinder is
really not needed, just a close estimate on the distance and the DOF takes
care of the rest. Again the quality of the Russian optics
is remarkable and with the smoothness of the Zeiss body it made for a
pleasant afternoon at a local train yard.

The final shot directly into the sun including the sun was a deliberate
attempt to see what kind of reflections the lens would have, as you can see
they are minimal.

Comments always welcome
