Aren't we forgetting that Leica has already been merged/acquired once -

A corporate merger or acquisition would save Leica.  Who is interested
in a niche market player in an area that is changing tremendously away
from the
market niche?    Hasselblad is now owned by a foreign conglomerate /
distributor.  They were in my opinion, much more mainstream than Leica.
A
takeover would be interesting, but I foresee that like Hermes, the
acquirer will be interested in the name, not throwing $$$ at the company
to make it viable.

Back to my ideas.....  Outsourcing digital bodies and offering Leica
glass for Nikon and Canon and Minolta and, and, and bodies.
