Before you judge, take the time to go out on a few patrols with your local city police, you may change your mind and outlook. I know I did. Those guys put up with a lot of abuse, it is amazing they do not give in to temptation when confronted by some of these "innocent helpless citizens" when confronted. Yes there are some bad choices by some or even those who should never be out there, but most are victims of out of context photography and generally do a very good job. I am looking at this photo without any knowledge of its real context or the facts involved. Perhpas, given the situation, he is in fact getting off easy. And, yes, overwhelming force is better than total brutality. Still, I think that there is a trend in this country to use a heavier hand than may actually be called for. Barney "B. D.
