Outlook is a truly terrible email program, but people use it anyhow, probably because it's free or because they aren't interested in learning anything new. And then, through some sicko variation of the Stockholm Syndrome, they decide that they like it. Outlook's evil habit of marking messages "From X on behalf of Y" has probably done more to degrade the quality of communication in the internet than anything else in he last 25 years. There are dozens of good email programs and a few really great ones. Outlook is neither, nor is Outlook Express. I use Mulberry. My non-tech family members use Eudora. I've used Mutt, Pegasus, the Mac's Mail.app, The Bat, Poco, TransSoft, Calypso, and Netscape Mail. All of them are, in my opinion, better than Outlook or Outlook Express. If you are serious about trying a non-Microsoft email program, I have two recommendations for you. If on-screen beauty is not important to you, then try "The Bat" ( http://www.ritlabs.com/en/products/thebat/ ) If on-screen beauty matters to you, then Eudora is the best by far. It's more expensive than The Bat, but it's the reference standard for commercial email software. ( http://www.eudora.com/ ) - -- To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html
