Tina,

The point several were making at the beginning of this discussion was that
such directing does not make any difference in the final result of the
photograph.   They seem to have dropped that argument, as it is obvious that
such directing can and does make considerable difference to what a
photograph turns out to be.  Your point, that it is also dishonest, is one
that is very important on several levels, and cannot be ignored.  That
dishonesty, of managing or directing a photograph that is presented as
candid or documentary, once it seeps into the process, affects the whole
enterprise, from beginning to end.  It must be recognized and dealt with for
what it is.
