Additional notes:
The "Magnum" accessory rewind crank:

The older top plates were stamped and not consistant from batch to
batch so the Leica accessory rewind crank may not fit on some M3/2
cameras. The new MP has a machined top plate.
The early M3s without the two red dots on the rewind shaft do not have
a strong enough rewind mechanism to safely use an accessory rewind
crank.
