In addition to a large, representative body of Arbus's work the exhibit includes excerpts from her diaries (which are also on display); documents and pictures that illustrate her biography; and her Nikon SLR, Mamiya TLR, and Rolleiflex wide angle TLR cameras. To see the entire spectrum of her work gave me a a very different impression of Arbus's range of subjects than one might get from the more frequently reproduced photographs of physically or socially less favored people. I was impressed by her determination to succeed as a photographer who wanted to communicate in her own way what she saw. There is so much material that I plan to return.
