Thanks, Richard ...

To answer your questions -

1. The black and white digital compares favorably to film. I've now got
the conversion down, so that the files look quite similar to bw scans.

2. I have had Lightjet prints of up to about 24x28 from my tri-x scans,
and taking into account the fact that these digital file prints were
much larger, they compared quite favorably. There is no question that
viewed from up close and personal, they suck. But so do the 24x28 tri-x
lightjets...at that size tri-x grain starts to look like grapes. Step
back to proper viewing distance, and both look terrific.

Hi BD, couple questions:
1 - you are converting from color digital to B&W right? How do you
compare
the output, especially at this enlargement level, with B&W film?

2 - your comment about 35mm blown up to 30x40. Have you seen the drum
scan
images from say, Galen Rowell? I have seen his 30x40 (and bigger) output

from higher ASA films (I'm pretty sure he usually used ASA100 or
higher),
and I can assure you, they don't look awful at all. Awe-inspiring comes
to
mine :-)

Anycase, congratulation. Nice images for sure!
