The current 50/2 is a great lens (if perhaps not in the class of the 90/2 AA or the
35/1.4 ASPH). 
But Leica probably WILL introduce a 50/1.4 ASPH and
a new 50/1 within the next year. So if lens speed is important to you, wait. If
compact size
and lower price are important, buy the current 50/2 (or any other 50/2 M lens by
Leica --
they're all excellent).
