Oh, you mean starting four years ago when a 1.2 to 2 mg sensor was a big
deal, and digital was still largely a creaky curiosity? You mean
starting four years ago, when digital was a creaky curiosity but those
with foresight could already predict that it would become the dominant
media? You mean starting four years ago, when digital was just a blip on
the charts, to today when 50% of new cameras purchased are digital?

No, Nonetooswift, the message is not that digital will "complement"
film; the message is that digital will supplant film as the dominant
capture media in the very near future. You will still be able to buy
film - although you will find it more and more difficult to get it
commercially processed.

For the last four years I've been hearing that digital will replace
film. It
hasn't happened. Digital will complement film. That's the message.
