I also have a Leica-R to EOS adaptor and I've used this regularly with my 100mm macro Elmarit-R lens. After using the Leica lenses on my EOS bodies, I have come to the conclusion that this combination is fine when the camera is mounted on a tripod and you have time to compose, manually focus and stop-down the lens prior to tripping the shutter. I have found it too cumbersome to use the Leica lenses on EOS cameras when handholding. Recently, there has been much interest in fitting the Leica extreme wide angle lenses to EOS digital cameras but I don't really see the point. I bought my 19mm lens because I wanted the coverage of that focal length. I don't see the point of fitting this expensive lens onto a digital body which is going to give me a much smaller angle of view. For these reasons, I have given up trying to use my Leica lenses (except the 100mm macro as I do mount the camera on a tripod for macro use) on my 10D. The advantages of a digital SLR like the 10D are negated if you have to spend time opening up the aperture, focus, stop-down, compose all the time. I'd much rather use the 10D with the Canon lenses using autofocus (I've had very good results this way) and continue to use my Leica lenses on my Leica bodies. Just my experience with Canons and Leicas - I love them all but would only consider mixing and matching the LTM bodies and lenses! I wasn't aware I'd been sarcastic, either successfully or not. It's purely out of cowardice that I haven't rushed to try the combination. I don't want to risk bunging up my lens or someone else's mirror. I was hoping someone else had already been bold...
