Go check out any outdoor skating rink on a winter's day. Or, any hill (especially Beaver Lake on Mount Royal); it will be filled with toboganers. Here in Toronto, where the winters are much less severe, both in terms of temperature and snowfall, than Montreal, we whine about it and hibernate. In Montreal, they celebrate it! Great town!
