That was then, this is now. Fortunately more developers are picking up the Mac
platform again after OS X. There are wonderful developer tools.

Of course the product you mention really required a GUI that the Mac provided,
it didn't exist on the PC side of the fence for a long time.

Todays Mac is a really well-designed computer system both on the hardware and
software side. The combination of open-source and proprietary software works
well. The UNIX underpinnings are virtually unseen unless you want to see them.

There are some downsides of course: fewer products, especially business-related
middleware, printer drivers are trickier to find although the new printing model
has solved many issues.

And if you want a high-performance laptop for imaging or digital editing the Mac
PowerBook is the state of the art.

Plus Macs play well with others in networking and file transfer.
