Forget the hood. It adds to the bulk, but doesn't even increase the 
protection by that much. The front element of the Noctilux is 
recessed more than that of any other Leica lens I can think of. It 
does nothing to reduce (change) the flare level; the Noctilux is one 
of the most flare resistant lenses I have used.
