You actually have to know something > about photography to use it. Boy, that's an understatement! Did you not feel limited by the scale focusing? I've never been able to work up enough confidence in my ability to estimate distances to try/buy a Rollei 35. John, With a 40mm lens, exposing at f5.6 or smaller, zone focusing works pretty well. I'll bet if you practiced you could judge distances between 8 and 20 feet with less than 10% error. Over 20 ft. it doesn't make much difference. The only time I had much of a problem is shooting wide open between 3 and 6 ft. Quite a few respectable cameras, including the early Leicas and the Robots used scale focusing.
