Jim - here's my opinion :  The R2 is a reasonable RF to fit  Leica 
glass on.  It is much noisier than an M, It's lighter than an M.  light 
meter pattern is more like the nikon 60/40 pattern whereas the M6 and 7 
are semi-spot meters.  The only other caveat is that the magnification 
of the  viewfinder is such that using a 50/1.4 or 75/1.4 would be tough 
in critical focusing situations.  Other pluses to the R2 is NO 
Rangerfinder Patch Flare and then of course the cost.
