There's a little plug in it which I always assumed was to keep the
wind lever from scratching the top too much, but probably it's to
allow access for some adjustment. I would tend to cover it ASAP, as
extra holes in camera bodies are generally of no benefit and in fact
rather detrimental, as they let in light and dirt.
