I use the Epson 2200. I like Ilford Smooth Pearl the best for printing
color. Excellent semi-gloss finish. And it's waterproof. I tried it in a
sink! For B&W, I use Epson's Enhanced Matte and Epson's Watercolor papers.
I'm getting ready to try some other 100% Rag paper for B&W. I'll let you
know what other papers I like.

With the Portra 400 B&W, a neutral scan is very easy to achieve.
