True enough - but at $2.19 per roll for Tri-X, I figure whatever I need
to shoot I shoot, and that's it..

Just to chime in:

One additional benefit of bulk-loading is that you're free to make 
your own 6-shot, 8-shot, or 12-shot rolls of film with very little 
financial hit.

Why would you want a roll that short? To test a new camera, a CLA'd 
shutter, a new emulsion, or new lenses!
