Subject: [Leica] cheaper equipment-- expensive repairs

I recently had my M6 repaired and cleaned before the Canadian Leica
distributor went bankrupt. The job was done perfect and the price a mere
$400 Canadian. Seems correct for a Leica service. On the other hand I spoke
to our local university photographer who shoots with a Nikon D1.. something,
and he tells me he had a problem with a blue line through his digital
images. After sending the camera to Nikon Canada the repair bill was a
staggering $3000. That is about half the price of a new one. For us poor
struggling freelancers that kind of bill is a killer.
I think I will continue to shoot film!

Cheers,
Kevin Argue
