My two labs lay down on the back porch (they are exclusively outdoor dogs, not like your pampered pooch). While they rarely look in directly through the glass in the French doors, they always give me the "coin de l'oeil" stares. If nothing else, one would have to congratulate on getting the eyeball metered correctly given the black/white background. Did you meter on incident light?
