My recollection is that it was a gift (or perhaps I merely choose to remember it this way). A search of the LUG archives would reveal all (if one could figure out an appropriate search string), but why spoil a pleasant memory by confronting it with a dispiriting fact? I do this for a living in my day job--in my spare time I prefer to inhabit the fantasy world that is the LUG, where kindness, humanity, politesse, and good manners invariably prevail.
