Unfortunately the guarantee for the motor drive is only for 2 years (in 
Hong Kong). The R8 in my opinion is rock solid and it has not failed 
once over the past 4 years but the motor drive really drives me nuts. 
Perhaps it is designed to be used as a grip only.
