That is basically correct. actually caskets (PC speak coffin is un PC) would literally POP to the surface like corks after a few months (needless to say a few months of high heat and humidity did not help the remains any...also the caskets would cave in causing sink holes...(which is why people invented Valuts...))

There is an excellent museum with some rather bizarre exhibits... www.nmfh.org

Moody fall and winter shots are best. Somehow cemeteries do not look right festooned with green trees and spring flowers in the mond of focus groups.
