That is a problem. I've dropped it without knowing. I wish it made 
more of a sound when it bounced! :-)

It does look like you can take it off to clean it.

I used it about 70% reflective and 30% incident. The incident globe 
is rather small compared to my Minolta. The reflective metering is 
also rather tight, so you have to be precise.

Errr.  They'll sell you a bracket, but it's the one that'll poke you 
in the forehead. I bought that one and until I made my own, there was 
a nice dimple in the middle of my forehead.  If they're selling a 
*real* bracket that offsets it from the rear of the camera, then I'll 
be impressed.
