The problem isn't your printer, Bill, it's the software drivers and the
inks. ;-)

Subject: [Leica] Re:Film vs Digital (Prints)

I shoot 35 and MF slides and Reala. I quit color printing in my darkroom
for good a year ago. However, I shot a roll of TCN 400 with the M3 last
weekend and dropped it off at a good lab to pe printed on silver paper.
The prints were superb. Black blacks and full tonal range are a surprise
to me in machine prints. I have tried for hours to equal them with PS7,
a Nikon LS4000 scanner and an Epson 3200, printing on an Epson 1270
trying different modes and papers. Not even close... I'm glad I kept my
Valoy. I have had good results with b&w sent to a lab for printing on
the Lightjet 5000. Does anyone have a solution for good quality b&w on
the 1270?
