I can understand your wanting a camera with very few functions, Doug.
But believe me, I find it's far more likely that I'll turn off a feature
and forget that it's there when I could actually benefit from it, than
it is that I'll forget to turn off a feature which will then get in my
way.

This is a very common misconception. Features I don't want to use are
subject to Murphy's Law, in that I have to verify, and repeatedly
verify, that the offending functions are disabled. I don't consider
this the same as ignoring those functions. I'd rather have a camera
that has very few unwanted functions.
