 There were numerous photos that came back, taken during this sand storm
period, and many were this weird color. Sun, sand, wind. Not having been
there, and having seen similar colored images, I'm not about to suggest
that it's been adjusted any more than any traditional color image is
adjusted in either the darkroom or the magazine printing process. What?!
They make tonal adjustments to traditional prints?! No way! ;-)

Why would have it been so deep orange? I'm not buying the orange it
looks like Star Wars III I think they photoshopped it with a little
emphasis. Then added a little more. Then a pinch more. "It felt real
orange to me I swear!" yea but not THAT orange! Unless they have low
pressure sodium lights set up in the middle of the desert!
