The scanner is super and I did not get the more expensive model. There is not a difference in specs between the two, just in software variations that come with the system. I did not need Monaco EZ color as I already have it, and you do get a different version of Silverfast software, but nothing I need. So I opted to pay less $$$$ and got the same scanner.
