I use plastic Coca Cola bottles and have been doing it for years. I'd never
trust D-76 when I got down to the bottom of one of the 1.5 liter bottles.
With X-tol I haven't had the slightest bit of problem.

I buy 5 liters at a time. Ok, I don't keep it around that long, certainly
not for a year. I use it diluted so I just use it up and mix a new batch.
Nary a bit of problems.

I do use distilled water to mix, but not to dilute. Not very rational, but
the instructions that go out once a month or so don't say anything about
the water you dilute with :)
