Not having used the f/5 lens in the field I can only guess from others' comments: contrast at full aperture is not as high as the f/6.8 lens at full aperture, but at comparable apertures they ought to be similar.  That's not the real difference between the two lenses, though.  The f/5 lens is much heavier and slower-handling, but should have a flatter field than either the f/6.8 or f/5.6 400mm Telyts.
