I came to America in 1952 on the QE 1, a wonderful 4 or 5 day trip from Le
Havre. In 1953 I went to Bremerhaven on a troop ship; I was seasick for 11
days. In 1956-59 my (first) wife and kids went to Europe by ship every year.
It was all we could afford before air charters became the way to go.
