Let's not forget that Algeria belonged to the Algerians before the French
"gave it away." Ahem. And the pied-noirs, that's another word for French
Colonialist. ;-)

We gave back Britain, didn't we? Our favorite colony.

They were in Paris, not Algeria.  The Algerians were in Paris
for the riots. DeGaulle sold out the pied-noirs and the French
Army, and gave Algeria away.

I haven't seen the slides for 40 years, they are stomach turning.
believe me.  No one believed in peaceful demonstrations in
those days. No rubber bullets either.

Sort of like in Belfast a while back.  Three sides all hating each
other.
