My uneducated $2 is skip Nikon and go with the Microtek.

I'm selling off my Nikon due to the shadow clip (vuescan is cool but not
really user friendly for this novice), poor depth of field, and the LED
lightsource shows things you didn't even know you had on your negs! It like
the Discovery channel specials on all the "bugs" that live on your body :O,
and that sucks for scanning B&W because you can't use the ICE.

I picked up a Microtek last week but havent been able to scan anything yet
due to procrastination and lazyness. You can't beat the software bundle that
comes with the Microtek!!
