The international warranty offered by Leica proper is fully 
transferable as required by most if not all local and national 
statutes. The passport et al is not considered a warranty but a 
"service" Leica NJ offers to its customers. Leica USA  product comes 
with both an international warranty (backed by Leica AG) and a 
"Passport" from Leica USA. These things are usually backed by a third 
party on a fee for unit basis.

Taking care of Passport matters for gear you have sold is more commonly 
called fraud. It may happen often but that does not make it legal. Does 
Leica know you are recommending this?
