I was estimating exposure using "Deadman's Estimated Exposures" which places a "Well-lit street at night" at f/1.4 @ 1/30. My wide angle Nikons are a 35mm and a 24mm at f2.8 and a 19mm Vivitar at f3.5. That would have put my exposure at 1/8. I don't think I can handhold my FM2 at that speed. Maybe I should try it.

It would be interesting to find out why you would not have attempted
this photo with a SLR.  Was it too cold for the mechanism to operate?

It could not have been the speed of the lens, as a lot of SLRs have an
f2.0 lens.
