I think you missed this one by a decade.  The M7 is more like a 1982 
metering system.  I think the 1970's auto cameras still had the needle that 
moved up and down to display the shutter speed the auto meter 
selected.  The M7 has caught up to the Canon AE-1 or Nikon FE/F3, with the 
exception of program more.
