That's what I've done... we have computers all around the house... a
TAN.  They're each connected to a central hub which in turn is connected
to an old Mac 8100 with two NICs, one for the hub and one for the cable
modem.  The Mac 8100 has IP NetRouter in it which lets all the
computers, Macs and PCs use the net and also move data between them.
