Subject: RE: [Leica] Has anyone tried a Thanbar. Is one for sale?

Why worth $3000?

Three reasons:
1. It is very old and was produced in very limited quantities.
2. Some famous photographers were able to get beautiful results from
it--with considerable practice. Results were not otherwise easily
obtainable with other Leica (or even non-Leica) lenses.
3. It has a high "complete-the-toy" factor--necessary accessories such
as the special filter element are essential for full value.
