Just my opinion.

We have been calling large format rangefinder cameras Texas Leicas. And
now the thread has gone to question why since Alaska is larger than Texas.

Well Alaska became officially a state in 1959. As time and reputations go,
that is almost yesterday. In the hayday of the Leica M3 and M2. Before
that, the largest state by far was Texas. And it seems that Texans being
rather shy, quiet, loyal, people would sometimes whisper that Texas is
BIG . BIG. BIG. And this true statement, plus bragging went on for about
100 years. The reputation for being BIG is still alive. And Texas is
still Big.

Leica users being shy, quiet, loyal, people would sometimes whisper that
Leicas are the Best, the Best, the Best. And the Leica reputation for
being the Best is still also alive.

Just a quiet voice in tiny New Jersey, with a few old Leicas, and a few
rolls of film ready to shoot.
